Nita - I’m 37. I am a work-at-home-mom. I like to make things in my spare time-I sew, paint, draw, garden. My natural parenting style is pretty much attachment parenting. I’m an extended breastfeeder, co-sleeper, baby wearer. I love the cloth diaper thing, though that has nothing to do with attachment. A lot of our choices are granola crunch like that, but then some aren’t. I wear *fake* birkenstocks because my husband works in education and we are, after all, just foster parents.
Before I was a parent, I worked with adults with developmental disabilities. I’ve done everything from direct care to administrative work in that field, in both the residential and work divisions, and was very happy to retire.
I like Fall Out Boy. A lot.
I like teh internets. A lot.
Todd - 37. Teacher by education, Home - School Coordinator by profession. Basically he’s a case manager for truancy cases for our regional office of education. For the elementary level. He doesn’t hassle home-schoolers.
Var - 15. He is our oldest son, our first child. He came into our lives at the age of 7 in the year 2000. He has disabilities in the severe range, and is blind, g-tube fed, and has CP. He utilizes a wheelchair to get around. He likes chaos.
Steph - 11. Completely typical and completely not. Tween. 5th grade. Hanna Montana. Wizards of Waverly Place. Music. Jewelry making and drawing. Funny. Also has FAS and RAD. Those are some pretty significant challenges and sometimes I fuss about them here.
Thaddeus - 4. He is our first biological child. He is smart, funny and, well, also four and everything that comes with being that age. He’s all about vehicles, super heroes and not eating veggies. Unless I can prove they’re good.
Magdalena - 2. She is our most recent, and last planned, addition to our family. Shows all signs of being the boss baby of the family. Obsessed with Dora, Max and Ruby, Wonderpets and Baby Einstein. And Little People. And pooring fluids out on solid surfaces like desks, floors, tables etc.
Julie - 42. My sis. Music fan. Loves chaos, especially if it’s something bound to aggravate me. Blind, CP, seizures, diabetes insipidus, autism. My inspiration. My frustration. I am her PA and she lives here with us part time, the rest with Mom and Chuck who aren’t going to get their own entries because honestly, when will it end?
